Why Learn with Lisa?
Choosing the right tutor is about more than learning techniques. It's about finding someone who can inspire confidence, explain the process clearly and genuinely wants to see you succeed. For more than 10 years, I've dedicated my career to teaching coloured pencil art, helping thousands of artists around the world develop their skills and discover a love for creating realistic animal portraits. Many of my students have now gone on to teach others, something that I am truly proud of.
Through my in-depth tutorials, live workshops, Patreon community and YouTube channel, I've built a reputation for breaking even the most detailed techniques into simple, achievable steps that artists of all abilities can follow.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging and honest. I know that every artist learns differently, and I believe there is no such thing as 'not talented enough'. Your skills are simply waiting to be developed with the right guidance and practice.
When you learn with Draw with LAW, you're not simply watching someone draw. You're learning the techniques, thought processes and little details that bring artwork to life, all within a supportive community where questions are welcomed, creativity is celebrated and every achievement matters.
"I was quite pleased with my first drawing of a dog I did by following Lisa’s corgi tutorial, especially after the compliments I got from family & friends. So I decided I'd like to continue with this ‘hobby’ - I should point out that I'm usually a ‘give it a go, get bored and drop an activity ‘ type of a gal. But, because I liked Lisa's teaching style, I decided to continue and joined her Patreon channel. I started off with her lowest, videos only tier. As I started to gain more insights I moved up to her top level so I could take advantage of the full cornucopia of goodies she delivers. Now I enjoy draw alongs as well as the full tutorial content that includes the written instructions along with the videos.

"Feeling grateful to Lisa Ann Watkins for her critique on my version of her tutorial Bay Horse. Yes, it was a challenge but one in which I learned so much. If anyone is concerned about putting their work forward for a critique, don't be. It is the only way to learn and grow as an artist."
