'Husky Watch' - Online Course

Course Summary

I’m thrilled to invite you on another creative adventure — this time diving into the fascinating world of drafting film.

Throughout this immersive course we’ll explore the myths, magic and unique possibilities of this beautiful surface.  Our subject for this journey is inspired by my unforgettable trip to the Arctic Circle: a patient husky, watching and waiting for his turn to run with his team beneath the northern light.

Across this sessions you’ll be guided step-by-step through a structured process using coloured pencils, PanPastels and a selection of speciality tools to recreate every texture, tone and atmospheric detail of this dramatic portrait. Each section focuses on a new area and texture, including how to combine PanPastels and coloured pencil on film for soft fur, and how to enhance depth by working on both sides of the surface.

Each stage is presented in a clear, logical format, making this course suitable for all abilities. We’ll start with the essentials — pencil pressures, colour mixing, understanding values — and progress through the application techniques needed to bring each texture in the portrait to life. You will be working on drafting film for this course.

Course Structure
This workshop is divided into 7 fully recorded sessions, all included within the online course. You can work entirely at your own pace with lifetime playback access to every video. Pause, rewind, revisit and learn whenever it suits you. You’ll also receive ongoing support within my private community group.

Bonus: You’ll also receive a free foundation mini-course focusing on the husky’s eyes using just colour pencil, allowing you to practice technique and build confidence before starting the full portrait.
